Portal Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions of the portal “Online Collection of the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź” (hereinafter referred to as the Terms and Conditions)
I. Definitions
Whenever the following terms are used in these Terms and Conditions, they shall mean:
- CMWL – the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, with its registered office at Piotrkowska 282, 93-034 Łódź, Poland, contact email: sekretariat@cmwl.pl, tax identification number (NIP): 729-11-25-803.
- Online Collection – the portal presenting the collections of CMWL, where images of museum objects are displayed together with content prepared by museum employees and collaborators as part of the documentation and dissemination of the collections.
- User – any person who uses the Online Collection catalogue in any way.
- Administrator – the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź.
- Resources – all graphic, textual, audio and multimedia materials published within the Online Collection. The “Description” field of an object is considered a work and is protected under copyright regulations.
- Museum objects – objects forming the collections of CMWL and made available in the Online Collection.
- Digital images – digital representations of museum objects from the CMWL collections published in the Online Collection.
- Copyright Act – the Act of 4 February 1994 on Copyright and Related Rights (consolidated text: Journal of Laws 2022, item 2509, as amended).
II. General information
- The publisher and owner of the Online Collection portal is the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź.
- By using the portal, the User accepts the rules set out in these Terms and Conditions.
- The Online Collection presents museum objects from the CMWL collections divided into the following sub-collections: Ethnography, Fashion, Industry, Artistic Textile. Digital images of museum objects are made available with due respect to restrictions resulting from copyright law, image rights, or other legal regulations.
- Users may access and use the Online Collection without creating an account or logging in.
III. Technical requirements
- To use the Online Collection, the User must have a device with Internet access and a web browser capable of displaying websites.
- The Administrator makes every effort to ensure that the portal complies with the Act of 4 April 2019 on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies and with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard. The Accessibility Statement is published on the portal’s website.
IV. Rules for using the Resources
- The Resources available in the Online Collection are protected under copyright law or other applicable legal regulations.
- Any use of the Resources for purposes other than personal viewing within the portal requires obtaining appropriate permission from CMWL or concluding a licence agreement.
- Educational and research institutions may use the Resources in accordance with applicable legal provisions for teaching and research purposes.
- Copying, distributing or modifying the Resources for commercial or non-commercial purposes without prior agreement with CMWL is prohibited, unless otherwise permitted by law.

V. Image rights and personal data protection
- Some Resources may contain images of identifiable individuals. Their use requires respect for personal rights, including the right to protection of one’s likeness (Article 81 of the Copyright Act and Articles 23–24 of the Polish Civil Code).
- The User is responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions for further dissemination of such images.
- The Administrator processes Users’ personal data only to the extent necessary for the proper operation of the Online Collection portal (e.g. system logs, form data). Detailed information is provided in the Privacy Policy, available on the Online Collection website.
VI. Liability
- CMWL exercises due diligence when indicating the copyright status of Resources. In the event of any errors, please contact the Administrator at: wizerunki@cmwl.pl.
- CMWL shall not be liable for:
– unlawful use of the Resources by Users,
– temporary interruptions in the operation of the portal resulting from technical work, maintenance, or causes beyond the Administrator’s control.
VII. Final provisions
- In matters not regulated by these Terms and Conditions, the provisions of generally applicable law shall apply, in particular: the Act on Museums, the Act on Copyright and Related Rights, the Act on the Provision of Electronic Services, GDPR, the Act on Digital Accessibility.
- CMWL reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions. The current version is published on the Online Collection portal and becomes effective on the date of its publication.
- These Terms and Conditions enter into force on the date of publication on the Online Collection website.
